I used vacation time. I'll still get paid the vacation while I'm clocking in for work but it's garbage $8.70 an hour. It's not so much the vacation day I'm losing. It's just the time i wanted to destress and relax.

I'll be getting paid double. But I work sales, hours don't mean shit me. I just wanted to be away from the resort. $8.70/17.40 an hour isn't worth my time to drag my ass back to the resort two days early. I was enjoying sleeping in. Gaming all day and since my GF is vising her parents in Vegas I was absolutely LOVING the apartment all to myself.

What kind of resort is it? I've always wanted to work at a resort type place. Somewhere where the people are happy because they are on vacation.

The resort I work for is the flagship of a major resort chain in FL. With the shit I post here it wouldn't be too hard to figure out the exact resort and sales dept. I work for. I'd rather not say.

It's not that easy.

Sometimes It'll be a call for reminding me I need to get the checking/routing from a family I sold. Other times it's because someone who agreed to pay the remaining deposit on a vacation package declined and I need to contact the family and remind them to stop being delinquent degenerates. Other times it's because a family cancelled during their recession period and for me to call the family and try to save it.

Never in a million years did I expect it was to tell me to go back early.

I have no college degree and timeshare sales has changed my life financially. There is absolutely no way I can ever make $90k+ a year doing something else.

$8.70 is my hourly. I never make hourly. I make commission/bonus. If I make hourly in a paycheck I fucking suck at my job. But as far as vacation time goes they pay hourly. That's why I don't care about paid time off. It's me just relaxing and losing that time to relax is what's pissing me off. I can take non paid time off that's not the issue.

Oh I do. I have a hefty amount saved.

We're beginning to see the economic struggle at the resort. My package is a lease instead of an ownership at the resort with a monthly payment of $100 bucks. That's chump change. Yet starting mid-September we started to see sales slump. Hard. I mean, I get why. Sales have slumped across the board at the resort. Despite that, we still have target numbers to hit or it's a performance write up.

September was a rough month for me. I'm grateful I still made a lot more money that most people but it was still a lot less than I'm used to and it kind of stressed me out. That's why I jumped at the opportunity to take 9 days off this month.

well there's always car sales and other shit. I dunno if you enjoy your work at all but there's plenty of boring non-sales jobs that pay well with no degree, but they can take time and probably aren't in the places you're used to being.

Car sales is brutal. The hours they work is fucking insane.

For perspective I usually clock in around 34-38 hours per week. If I work 8 hour shifts consistently I'm pissed because I'm "working too much".

As far as my work day.

I go in at 9:30am. Because I work the exit line, I don't see families until they tell the original sales rep. they're not buying anything. Tables don't turn until generally 10:00 to 10:30AM. By 11:30am we're done with the first wave. From 11:30 until 3:30pm (When tables from second wave turn) we're sleeping/watching shit on our phone/getting a liquid lunch at one of the restaurants nearby or actually going out to eat. We're done with second wave by 4:45.

That's my work day. I couldn't survive in a car dealership. Although, I have to admit, the prospect of dealing with people coming into with the intent to buy what you're selling is alluring.

It is an easy work day, not going to lie.

But that's before factoring that selling what I sell isn't easy. People come onto presentations with the entire goal of not buying anything no matter what and me having to make magic and selling those people.

We're not getting drunk. We may have a beer or two. And we're selling people who already told the original sales representative to fuck off with a smaller package. By the time we get to the table, they've seen their rep for two hours. His manager and then an in-between sales rep with a drop price. By the time we get to people they're on hour 3-4 of a 2 hour sales presentation. It's not easy.

Don't think of it as an investment. It's not. It's something for people who are going to vacation to offset the costs in the long run. I personally wouldn't buy one. I think that If I ever did it would be a two year lease program with no maintenance fees.

that sounds incredibly unethical, but I already knew about it from the south park episode. what's stopping these people from walking out of the building? are they old and incapacitated?

It's not unethical. Literally nothing stops them from getting up at the two hour point and demanding their gift. People are just too polite to say "Hey. My two hours are up. I want my gift and I want to leave". Very rarely do people do that and when they do we let them leave.

fair enough. I would think the invitations for these things weed put a lot of the types of people who would assertively leave.

At least I got a sale today. Told my boss I'll resume the rest of my vacation. I've been playing CK3 since about 5pm after I got home.
