Two days ago a woman comes in, drunk. I could tell she was drunk to some degree(slurred speech and speaking gibberish). I was the only person in the store at the time, my coworker in their car on their break.

I don't know why I served them, but I was alone and froze up and just did it. I felt pretty down after this for letting it happen. I told myself that if I saw her again, I would be stronger.

She comes in spurts. Not a regular to our store, but we see her enough, so I figured I'd see her again and i'd tell her whats up.

Today! She came in. She asked me "where do you have 99 bananas? come on, help me out!" Now, I could tell she was drunk because she's bought 99 bananas before, she knows where it is.

When I return to the register after getting I said to her

"I am not serving you today. Your speech is slurred, I have determined you are drunk"

She motions that she can't hear me.

"I said I am not serving you today because your speech is slurred, and you came in wasted the other day and I served you when I shouldn't have so nope, you have to go elsewhere"

she began to protest "what if my boyfriend comes in?"

"If I see a man purchasing a bottle of 99 Bananas shortly after you come in, I won't serve him either"

"what if he buys something else?"

"you're literally telling me your plan to skirt the rules, just stop"

What happened next is she puts her hand out as if to ask for a handshake, to apologize. I look at her hand and say "What do you want me to do with that?"

She then said "well, see you again" and leaves. My coworker watches as she got in her boyfriends car and they drove off.

I feel good for standing my ground and making up for two days ago, but this isn't fun. After the short adrenaline rush stopped I kinda felt loopy and couldn't focus a well.

If I see her again and she gives me the slightest hint she is intoxicated, I will not serve her. If she were to threaten me in any way she will be banned for good.

I've never really had to do this before because most people who are intoxicated know how to play it straight for five minutes as they get their stuff.
