Long Running Game Show hosted by Drew Carey has gone back to production in California...and it will come back in a COVID FRIENDLY format with NO AUDIENCES which the show is known for and instead the booths of the contestants will now be on the STAGE all separated...

The team spent the last few months working out on how to return to production as Producer Evelyn Warfel said they realized they can't go back with 300 people in the audience sitting close together so they had to do it without an audience to maintain safety and the contestants will be pre-selected rather than by "random"

She said "This was the hardest part of all this; the audience is such a core part and so, for the first time in 48 years we've had to look at it and go okay, we're bringing the show back and it's going ot be different and we have to hope and know everyone understands how serious it is"

Carey said all of their favourite games will be back and wearing masks as they will increase the number of episodes they film a day from 2 to 3

The set is fully rebuilt and all contestants will be on one level rather than running up the stairs to meet Carey.

It will be a much different year for the show as you won't hear many screaming audiences nor people helping them decide what to do or look to people for help..but the show must go on and how the viewers at home react will soon be known by the ratings

I'll have to tune into a new episode to see how it feels, but the audience reactions were definitely some part of the appeal. Often times a contestant would have some family member they would search out for some small advice. I doubt there will be any gleeful hugs of joy going on either.

That said, a ton of the games were not particularly contact driven to begin with, so very little mechanically will need to change. Truly Plinko was ahead of its time.
