Board 8 > What's the current understanding for PS4 games working on PS5?

I know Sony said that a vast majority would, but was there a cutoff point where games from that point in were definitely going to work? I have a few PS4 games I'm holding off on buying while saving up for the PS5 that are coming out soon (Robotics;Notes, 13 Sentinels, Cold Steel IV), and wasn't able to find out for sure if we knew they were going to be PS5 compatible.

All three of those will definitely be PS5 compatible.

This was my next worry. I had planned to hold off on buying all of these until after I got the PS5, but Cold Steel IV Deluxe Edition had a price error last night and was almost 50% off, so couldn't resist. Will just gold off on playing until then.

The save file question is only for games that receive new versions on the PS5, AFAIK. So if you're playing a backwards compatible version of any game you'll be fine.

It's like how the physical edition and the digital version of Persona 5 can use the same save file, but if you buy Persona 5 Royal your old save won't work anymore.

Though some PS5 remasters probably will have compatible saves. We just don't know what they are yet.
