You have 3 days to beat any video game you have access to right now of your choosing. If you succeed, you earn all the money you had at the end of the game (Tax Free), but if you fail, you own the government that much money instead.

  • Once you choose a game, you're stuck with it. No jumping ship mid way.
  • When you beat a game, your time is extended by an additional 24 hours. Your options are to either klaim your earnings right then and there, or risk starting another game for potentially more money.
  • Official games only. No roms/emu or online flash/java games. ("Official Emulation" such as the Wii U's virtual konsol are allowed)
  • Should be obvious, but new files only. No starting with a save that already has progress or New Game+.
  • Kan only play a game once (although remakes (not ports) are allowed) and when you beat it, that's it. No taking advantage of any postgame or reloading before the final boss as a safe way to earn more.
  • Games with micro-transactions enabling you to buy in-game money are allowed, but make sure the game actually has an ending (lol Fortnite), or you're fucked.
  • Time starts the moment you opened this topic, so whatever you're enguaged with with at work/school/financially/ect isn't just gonna disappear for your konvenience.

How do you fare?

Nope. Just money and things used as money, like Fallout's bottlecaps.

But if you have an arcade game that actually has a reachable ending, it'd still be worth beating if it's short enough. Spend 1.5 hours, earn an additional 24.

Co-op multiplayer is allowed, but you must be player one and no one plays the game in your place.

Also, games with built-in cheat kodes are allowed (Starcraft, Banjo Kazooie, anything with the Konami kode) but absolutely no hacking, modding, or 3rd party hardware/software. Put the ActionReplays and GameSharks down.

Lol. Sneaky. I assume you have friends with maxed out avatars ready to dump kash on you and karry you through the game?

3 days is a long time...

I could just play through most of the early era mario games in that time and get a bunch of coins though I'm unsure of the conversion rate from gold coins to real world currency

Aside from NSMB2, Mario platformers don't really keep track of the number of koins you accumulate, so you'd be netting $99 per game at most. The real benefit of beating 4 old Mario games in a day would be earning and additional 4 days to play something heavier.

well, that's why I was thinking about exchange rate. There's not really any reason they should convert at a 1-1 scale like that and honestly it's very unfair to anyone attempting this challenge from a place with rather inflated currency. Or even if you don't want to think globally: why would it be 99 dollars and not 99 cents? After all, they're coins :p

I feel like playing a few pokemon games would be a pretty good money making method though the numbers get pretty high there. Or something like recettear lol

Well they are gold. I've only ever used American, Canadian, English, European, and Bermudian money, but usually when a koin is gold, it's worth at least a Pound/Dollar/Euro.

Yeah. Even if not, it's usually easy to find someone to carry lol.

I should be able to make a few million dollars playing Just Cause 2 for three days. The main story isn't that long to beat, and once the final mission is available I can grind.

Though I wonder what dollars those are. The Panauan buck is said to be super low value, but the in-game money can buy an attack helicopter with $100k.

Also, I was kinda banking on the unfairness of this from the beginning. If you've got a good varied gameing library in your house, and aren't living paycheck to paycheck, you're likely all set. But if you typically rent games and sell what you're done with or have to much responsibilities and not enough disposable income to drop everything and game excessivly, you're gonna have a bad time.
