The first season was phenomenal. Touches on a ton of concepts, both old and new but none of it feels overbearing or forced. The last episode was actually the weakest of the season but it was still great. The show does a great job at making the child actors both hateable and likeable depending on the circumstances. Fuck Paul though. The main antagonist Marcus is hit or miss. Like the dude went to an acting class taught by Norman Reedus and just learned his weird facial mannerisms. But there's some cool shit with him. The two Androids and their mission definitely carry the show above all though. Father is the shit. Mother kicks ass.

My prediction for s2: Whichever character, maybe Tempest, discovers that the 'Sol' voice is actually a virus that the religious architects implanted in the pods in order to continue the prophecies. This same virus is what caused Mother to get pregnant and deliver that hell spawn ouroboros mfer. Kids will find out that they're eating devolved humans basically. Father is gonna smack some Mother cheeks somehow.

It's all on HBO Max now. Def recommend.

Imo if you don't have an HBO Max sub already you're fucking up. It's a killer service. Probably my most used streaming service this entire quarantine.

I had huge doubts when they were doing this weird ass splintering of their services AGAIN but God damn this is just an all around better service than they've had before.

Just finished the finale. The world and lore have a ton of potential that they've only just started touching on, so I'm looking forward to S2. They need some likable characters, though, fuck. I think I literally only root for Father at this point, and I love Travis Fimmel (Marcus), but they're wasting him with crazy voices Marcus. I've got no problem with Vita, either, I guess, but she's like 6, so not much character there.

I like Tempest and Mother a lot too. Paul's mom is also cool. I think they did a good job with the kids and making them have their likeable and unlikeable moments. I hated Hunter's fucking guts until the last few eps.

I really like the show but I have many issues with it.

A lot of times it feels aimless, like where exactly is it going. Theres a lot of back & forth and gets boring. We get information about the shows universe drip by drip. We could have used more context about the worlds and factions early on.

• How much of their android blood can they lose before it starts effecting them? Ragnar wounds Mother and shes immediately incapacitated, then they leave her heavily bleeding from her open wounds for several days, then later on shes able to just walk away and escape.

• The child actors are pretty bad, I hope they do a time jump for the second season.
• Everyone can have a secret or two but theres just so much withholding information from each other, its annoying.
• Also the androids could have at least put up a fence around the hole after their child had died.

And wtf at that ending.

Finally caught up. The back half of this season went a little whackadoodle for my tastes. Marcus' storyline would be interesting if he was an atheist who found belief because he genuinely went crazy, but there's confirmation that something is speaking to these people. As such, he went from a pretty interesting character to a one-note one.
I'm also not a huge fan of finales that don't wrap anything up which this one decidedly did not. Like there's not a single plot thread that was concluded.

I agree with @iPhone_7 that the story feels aimless. It was a really cool storyline going on where Mother is simultaneously a killer psychopath robot and a loving caregiver. I'm less enthused about the ancient alien religious rituals and the giant leech monster.
