I feel like any time I've disputed a moderation I've gotten a comment back. Granted it's been a long time since I got a moderation that I disputed. The last two I got were fairly well deserved.

Did you know that even if you win your dispute then you can still lose? It's not good enough to win by 51%. You have to win by like 75%. And even then I think Error can choose to overrule the poll if he wants. I know he becomes the deciding factor if the poll doesn't have a clear enough majority.

allen got tired of having to deal with appeals from his incompetent volunteer staff, the site doesn't make enough money to actually pay a staff. So he implemented a voting system,so as long as the majority of mods decide to protect themselves allen doesn't have to do anything but make sure that CBS keeps depositing that check on Friday. While the mods rally to their discord server to ensure they have a majority when they choose to carry out their grudges.

I don't think they even have to bother with that most of the time because I've long suspected that there's only 4 or 5 mods voting in these polls to begin with. I'm certain that's the real reason that Allen doesn't let you view the poll. He doesn't want topics like, "Only 2 people voted on my dispute? And one was the mod who deleted the post? It was statistically impossible for me to win!"

I was modded for flaming the Homelander, a TV show character. It wouldn't have been overturned if I didn't make a thread about it.

I contested the moderation because I don't believe I violated the ToU. It would be very helpful if a mod would clarify how I broke the rules.

oh, i guess the comics are the default in my head now. yeah people only really call him Homelander in casual conversation there. randies and people not in his inner circle refer to him as the homelander

Gotcha. That makes sense. I can also see why they dropped it for the adaptation though.

In the last few years moderations have become all about moderator discretion rather than rule breaking, so obviously they don't want a system where disputing is easy.

It should be the other way around. Like, even if you lose by 90%, that still means 10% of the mods disagree with the ruling and its validity should be questioned regardless.

The fact that only 1 or 2 mods max even vote to begin with means that even 1 vote in favour of overturning should be it gets overturned.
