so far killing the badies is tied around sneaking up on them but dammit sometimes i just wanna run in and start killing shit without having to worry about sneaking around

im only 15 hours in. will i get powerful enough to just blow through enemies at some point?

I don't remember using very much stealth at all. How are you approaching battles? On normal difficulties stealth really isn't required.

you should definitely be able to blow through enemies at that point.

why are you not machine gunning enemies with the quick shot bow?

i learned early on that holding down the button/making the reticle smaller only adds power to specific bows and in general it's vastly more fun to just going in guns blazing.

of course, i was playing on m/kb where the aiming reticle wasn't needed for the most part. i didn't even bother with the slo-mo mechanic xd

I don't remember using stealth at all, other than maybe getting the first shot in. Melee combat is never really a feasible alternative to your bow and other weapons, so you'll always be blasting baddies from a distance if that's what you mean.

am i just playing the game wrong?

90% of the time, ill see the bots up ahead, and if i just run in shooting at them, i only do like 15 points of damage per hit and i never kill them before they get up to me. then they're just tossing me around like its Street Fighter 2. so im forced to run away and hide. i hate it.

i dont know how to do more damage besides aiming for weakpoints, but the only way i can managed to do that is by sneaking up on them.

Are you using all your tools? If you're just spamming the default bow, there's your problem.

they dont seem to do as much damage. i mean, i try to do the weaknesses, but nothing just kills them outright

You need to use the traps to put them into weakened states, or combine elemental effects for damage, or focus on removing the enemies most dangerous attacks, etc. Do the hunting lodge challenges if you're having trouble. Those are essentially tutorials for weapon/combat basics.

get better bows, use fire and hardpoint arrows, don't forget weapon modifications(go with pure damage) etc. and spam spam spam.

also, i found out fairly late how the ropecaster is pretty damn useful for big and small enemies alike.

There's a special armor you can get if you collect some things hidden around the world. It's a high tech armor from before the world ended that projects a holographic shield or something around that completely protects you from damage. After you take a certain amount of damage, the shield has to recharge for a couple of seconds and you're vulnerable to actually take damage. If you decide to get that armor, you're basically invincible and it frees you up to fight more recklessly. You should also keep buying better bows and installing the stuff on it that adds status effects to your attacks.

Like TC, I felt like I was constantly underpowered and even the most simple combat encounter took for-fucking-ever to deal with. And I did try going for weak spots and upgrading equipment.

I must have just sucked ass at the game. lol
