I noticed that sometimes when I have trouble falling asleep, I can get a bit stressed out and start thinking about a lot of things. I was wondering what is the best way to fall asleep fast?

Sometimes I tend to think about all my failures when I am not doing anything, which is why I try to keep myself busy. This is why it would help if I know how to fall asleep fast, so I don't get the chance to think about them.

I can't gain back those times I have wasted, due to my health. I can't gain back those years and decades wasted, which is why I am doing everything to not fail anymore. Although seeing everyone I know living their successful life, while I am not there yet makes me disappointed in myself.

I listen to heavy rain noises through a speaker and make sure its cold in my room. That helps me. Everyone is different though. Look it up and try different things.

I do get hot at night and that can disturb my sleep, so I bought a fan to cool my room. It purify my room and release cool air and has a night mode.
I will try putting rain music when I go to sleep. I need to buy something to listen to music while I sleep.

Sleep at night around the same time every night. Aim for 7-8 hrs of sleep. Try to think positive. Like plans for tomorrow at the most.. But usually just don't think of anything if you really want to drift into sleep. Also helps sleeping your side, right side especially.

Don't sleep too much during the day. 30 minute naps are fine, but 1 hr naps will mess with circadian rhythm

Create a routine. Cut out the electronics at least one hour before bed. Dim the lights. Read a book or do some kind of puzzles for a little bit.

Im currently outside on my deck, under the stars. I have been going out with a big blanket and sit on my recliner out here. Its cool and cozy with the blanket and makes me sleepy.

A lot of people have trouble sleeping due to racing thoughts. My strategy has always been to have something to think about that isn't stressful. Typically a hobby or video game. For instance, when I was playing bloodbourne, I would go through all the maps in my head. Id been through them so many times I could just follow the routes through them. Lately Ive been thinking about the tabletop role playing game that I play. Just think about character options and plan out how to move forward. Of course it helps to have enough information about something to be able to just lay there and think about it, but its usually pretty effective. Trying to not think about things is a losing strategy, so you just need to fill that space.

I personally imagine I'm in a foxhole, sheltered from the weather. I should throw on rain sounds too, to really immerse myself

I always have a fan or some kind of white noise, though, because I get bad bouts of tinnitus

I play music before going to bed. Various 1-2 hour mixes on YouTube to make sure it's long enough to fall asleep and short enough today it's stopped by the time I wake up.

Kind of similar to this, one thing I've found effective is to imagine myself thoroughly explaining a game to someone who's never heard of it. Like, running through all the races and classes in D&D, how Heroes of the Storm works, how Pokmon battling works, etc. It's interesting enough that I don't get frustrated like I would with counting ad nauseam, but simple enough that it lets my mind mellow out.

An interesting, but not exciting, book. It brings your thoughts to one point of focus, away from the stresses of daily events and future plans.

[ A narration-only audio-book (no sound-effects, etc.) might work, too. ]

I sometimes have an issue with this, just thinking too many thoughts. Line of thought after thought. Not fears or stressful worries at all, just... ideas/ruminations. And it feels like it won't let me sleep.

When I have that kind of thing happen what I do is some exercise. No excuses (I'm worn, I dont wanna), just do it.

Wear yourself out a bit. (it's good for you too)

Get back to bed. You will be wide awake for a little, but I find I then fall asleep right away.

Works for me.
