I think it's irrational not to. The entire universe, billions upon billions of stars and we aren't the only planet orbiting one star that has something alive on it. Even if it's microscopic life, or non-intelligent life, there's life. There is zero chance that it's all out there solely for us to exist on this world and nothing else exists.

water is supposedly on mars so the chances of there being absolutely nothing but water in the water is pretty low to begin with.

intelligent life tho...?

Abiogenesis is deterministic in any place where the conditions for life are right. The conditions, btw, are actually fairly generous. The goldilocks zone is pretty huge, once you have that all you need is liquid water and time.

there is a theory that all life on earth is alien to earth. the theory goes that life was forming on both earth and mars at the same time. then a disaster wiped out the new life on earth. (this was still microscopic life btw) Earth was now barren. Mars though still had life and then it got hit with these huge asteroids that knocked chunks of mars off into space and hurtling to earth and these chunks carried bits of martian life that seeded on earth.

I'm sure life can survive traveling through space for 33.9 million miles before burning up through Earth's atmosphere.

it actually can. I'm talking about microbes. they have proven that some of them can survive even the vacuum of space

I saw this discussed on a science show called How the Universe Works. so it's not being pulled out of my ass or from fringe science. it's an actual theory called Panspermia

The universe is really, really big, so it's essentially a statistical impossibility that we are the only lifeforms that exist.
This does not, however, preclude the (extremely remote) possibility that we are the only lifeforms to exist within our observable universe, or the possibility that other life exists within our observable universe but by the time we would be able to learn of them they'll have drifted outside of it; in either case we would be, for all intents and purposes, utterly alone.

Let me put it this way
A lot of of the Ocean's Depths are undiscovered and unexplored

Considering that subatomic particles scale much closer to the Earth than the Earth does to the Universe there is zero chance of us having any remote idea what is truly out there.

anti-intellectualism is why humanity might not ever leave this rock and find out whats out there. You still have people in 2020 flat out denying even the possibility that we humans may not be the center of the universe.

Relative to the rest of the universe, the center is the point of observation. Essentially no matter where in the universe you are, you perceive that you are the center and that the universe is expanding away from you, specifically.
