With Google Fiber I always got near 1 gbps down/up.

Honestly I had zero issue with 100mb internet at my old apartment; moved and got 200mb for the same price. It's great.

Context varies obviously. If it's literally just you and all you really do is stream and download (as opposed to having a family where you need five other bodies to use internet), then 1000 seems like overkill.

Unless your stuff is fairly new, most won't even handle 1gb. My old ass ps4, 3 year old TV, s10 phone... none of them get close to 1gb speed. The desktop I bought back in January gets in the low 900s but everything else is mid 200s.

yeah, most things won't even take advantage of that type of connection. even when you download stuff from the computer, like yeah stuff like speedtest.net will display the full speeds, but when you're downloading random stuff off the net you probably will only download them at tenth of a speed since those websites can't handle high speeds like 1 gig internet

It's amazing but you have to be someone that needs and can utilize it. I download and upload A LOT with multiple connections. Wired I get the advertised speed, but I rarely use wired.

I can hit 700 down and 800 up on my S10 and S20. Better than my laptop. Aside from that, you won't see any difference between 100 and 1000. In fact, my two year FiOS promotion is coming to an end in November, so I'm probably gonna jump to Optimum 400 myself.

Also Optimum is hit or miss depending on how full the node is. I had them split the node around my area when I last had them, so I can max 400. But if it's full, you'll get like 20 during peak times.

between Google Fiber (at like 75% speed unfortunately, I don't have a direct, ethernet connection the router but use a MoCA adapter) and an SSD I can download full 100GB PC games in ~30 minutes

i was doing some research and they were saying stuff like coax/fiber. So I'll ask the technician when he gets here I guess
