exaggerated at all?

I'm someone who treats this virus seriously. I work from home, I stay in as much as I can, and I only go out for essentials. And when I do go out, I wear both a facial mask and a face shield at the same time. I never touch my face while I'm out, and when I get home disinfect all objects (like groceries and whatnot) that I bring inside the house, then I throw my clothes in the washer, and I take a shower. Since I live in Florida, a huge Covid-19 hotspot, I can't afford to NOT take it seriously.

But I also wonder, is OK for someone like me to wonder if the stats that have been reported across each state for Covid-19 cases and deaths are really truly accurate? I'm not saying that I think that the government and the hospitals are all in on some conspiracy and have fudged the numbers for their own benefit. I don't think that's the case. But maybe they accidentally fudged the numbers accidentally in some way, or something like that?

Again, I'm going to continue treating this pandemic completely seriously.

It's more likely an undercount of the true toll.

The government faked numbers to cause a recession (reasonable to a degree), a world wide health crisis, and look moronic.
Hospitals faked numbers to lose a ton of money on elective procedures.

No. If anything Florida's numbers, especially, are underreported, due to DeSantis meddling. On a countrywide scale you can easily compare average deaths per year to 2020 and see the bump. Even so, compare deaths and cases to total population and you can see why you only know a few people who have been affected.

The thing is, our efforts to stop it did work and continue to work. But we cant get "over it" because we didn't continue strong measures for long enough. Every spreader event literally prolongs the crisis. Even a vaccine has issues - people may start to take the virus even less seriously, people won't vaccinate, people will lie about vaccination, et cetera.

Is ok to question the stats, but secondary data does show them to be real. Don't buy into conspiracy theories. If you want to be skeptical, talk to the experts and ask them questions, don't talk to idiots and accept their wordplay.

Not gonna scrounge up sources on mobile. There's tons of sources through AP, NPR, and medical centers.

I do think it is far more common and far more underreported than it is to believe.

That would also mean the death ratio is far more exaggerated than it should be.

Yes.
There are those complaints about cases of, say, diabetes or car crash related deaths being contributed to covid, but it's actually the other way around and deaths from covid related symptoms are being reported as diabetes, flu, and other causes (obviously not car crashes).
