Are young people more racist than old people?

I always had this assumption that society is getting less and less racist. We're moving closer to an era where everybody was born after the Civil Rights Movement. Eventually, all the boomers will die off and racism will be almost eradicated, right?

Wrong. If anything, I see more racism from young people these days. Old people are more likely to be experienced, tolerant, and condemn racism. It has gotten to the point where I almost expect racist reactions more from young people than old people, and that's just sad. Of course there are always exceptions, but this is what I'm noticing. Am I going crazy, or is it like young people are more likely to say and do racist things?

It's the alt-right. They're actually really good at radicalizing younger people.

Naw, you get more grumpy as you age, and that makes some people less tolerant and hopeful.

A lot of kids are going to be raised hearing racist things if their parents are racist, and hear those words their entire life growing up. It's up to them as an adult how they perceive being raised that way, and if they will continue on with that mindset. I'd like to think a lot of them smarten up and learn better, but a lot do not. It starts with the older generation and the values they set for the younger generations to come.

All the racism is coming from the right. Some people try to claim that theres racism towards whites by the left but thats incorrect.

Saying stuff like white people are the problem with society or I hate white people cant be racist because racism = prejudice + power.
White children need to be taught this in school so that when they go online or on social media theyre not getting triggered, resentful, & self-radicalizing down the path of the Altright.

while it should be clear to anyone that your first paragraph is wrong, I don't think one is necessarily more racist than the other.

it is worth noting, though, that far more old people are in positions of power (and they rely, at least partly, on racism in order to keep that power). so racism from old people is more likely to have far-reaching consequences like policy decisions, whereas racism from young people tends to be more restricted to the level of the individual.

it's essentially the same dynamic as racism from wealthy people (which can influence policy) vs racism from poor people (which, again, is generally restricted to the level of the individual)

There's plenty of racism in the left, too; it just manifests in a more "positive" manner. Less of "these people are inferior, so we shouldn't associate with them" and more of "these people are inferior so they need all of the help they can get."

A new white man's burden, of sorts.

Older people just had more time to learn to be racist secretively while they have a bigger overall effect on a deeper level. Kids are just dumb and flaunt racism

Lmao, that definition is just an excuse to perpetuate racism, while trying to convince others to not call it out.

It is so absurd that Im going to give the benefit of the doubt that you dont actually believe it.

Yes the younger generation has gotten a huge uptick in racism and it is partially due to how both sides have a "us vs them", "if your not completely on board your racist", and other bullshit but people refuse to believe older people are less of a problem for racism now since many are literally dying off.

Ugh, arguing over the semantics of the word racism is so stupid. Who cares if the person is a racist, a bigot or a prejudice asshole. This is like when you guys break down what you call people who fuck kids of different ages, instead of just calling them all pedophiles and realizing it's all wrong and that conversation is so stupid and petty when you're not working a job where it actually matters.

That's crazy, I thought the definition of rascim was thinking you're superior to someone else because of your race. Or just hating people based on race.

Tldr, gtfo with saying "I hate white people isn't racist."
