TL:DR

-Guy who made a living streaming and playing video games got doxxed and his criminal record got leaked to the internet.

-When he was 22 he messed around with a girl who he thought was 15 but was really 13.

• When her parents find out he gets arrested and serves 5 years of a 6 year sentence

This was a decade ago and guy is 34 years old now but people are only now finding this out and now he is being sent death threats and harassed constantly.

Is this fair or not?

People can be super vindictive. He served his time. I feel it actually hurts society if you dont allow criminals to have a chance at rejoining society. Why should they bother then to fix themselves?

California passed zero bail.

Criminals get released from jail immediately after getting caught, how do they thank society? Go right back to committing crime (and getting caught and released again)

What does this have to do with what the guy in the OP is going through? If buddy hasn't done any more shit, leave him alone. This is why recidivism is so high among ex-cons - they have no idea how to adjust to a lawful society that keeps expecting them to be the person they where when they committed the act in the first place.

As a private entity, Twitch has full autonomy on deciding who gets to use their platform. I wouldn't expect him to be able to stay there either.

I'm not sure he's even supposed to be playing MMO's with other children OR having communications with them via Twitch or Youtube though. For all we know, he's evading putting himself on the sex offender's list. My point is that this guy has been living a lie when he should have came out with it in the first place and let people make up their minds about him being "reformed". By no means are death threats ever acceptable in society, though.

It's precisely for this reason that I'm not expecting anybody to disclose their criminal past, if it involves sexual assault against a minor. You do have a valid point - we have no idea about the terms of his post sentence lifestyle. He could very well be breaking those by streaming on Twitch and playing WoW. Then again, he wouldn't be if those weren't part of the terms of his release. I don't care enough about him or his situation to find out.

he didn't know she was 13. also he was still pretty young himself. he was only 22. I'm 39. I see 22 year olds as kids now. i'm just saying, you should let people redeem themselves if they want to. we need to keep that door open. it's better than just driving someone to go back to crime because you basically make them into a monster that can never be saved and so they just give up. and that causes more crime to happen.
