I hope not.. I been going to them since they were funco land in the 90s. I know there are many haters of them, but I saved so much money over the years with their price drops on games. Also I sell most my games after I finish them to put towards other ones. No other store did that for me. So please GameStop, don't die!

can someone tell me why working at gamestop sucks

i hear:

  • their policies suck
  • you get almost nothing for trade-ins
  • the pay is bad (usually minimum wage?)
  • they dont handle games properly
  • they commonly mark used games as "new"
  • they pick and choose what rules to follow

are those points true? anything missing?

This is true. Which is why I haven't shopped there for years.

is it? because it sounds like a perfect excuse for a lawsuit.

The whole policy of selling an opened game as new I can understand though. They need to keep the game boxes empty on the shelves. Only way is to open one of the sealed ones. I don't consider them used since no one actually owned them before and played them already. So maybe the last copy is open, but not used

There's no reason they need to have the shelve cases be empty. Just put security cases on them. And it's not like the stores are big enough or busy enough that the employees can't keep an eye on the customers in there.

As someone who works Asset Protection, those security cases are gonna do fuck all.

They can easily just grab them and run out the door as they ignore the alarm.

Gamestop should have discovered a new invention called a color printer 20 years ago and make dummy cases for new games, its not that hard to figure out. But no, they would rather gut those new games so they can do an employee checkout.

last several times i went to gamestop, they had 1 display case on the shelf and drawers of the game, still in its original packaging, that they were selling to customers. next time just go to the counter and ask for the game, dont pluck the empty case off the shelf and try to buy the display model.

Some customers reported that there were existing save files on their "new" games

I heard that employees can rent games from gamestop and can give them back, all while still being considered new
