They retracted their article because the study had falsified data; but when it came out everyone treated it like it was the truth and halted all current trials on it

It is FDA approved for something so it's false to say it doesn't do anything.

It does not have measurable theraputic effects for COVID-19 in any of the many randomized controlled trials that have been run, and it has significant risk. No benefit, only harm.

The study had a lot of bias and inappropriately done. The reason why it was greenlighted so hard was because during the crisis, we had nothing, and we knew nothing about the disease. A lot of people were being intubated, young and old, and dying. So at that point, it was worth to try and see if there was any improvement. Then more studies showed that hydroxychlorquine was causing more deaths or had no effect. And when combined with azithro it puts the patient at risk for cardiac arrhythmias. So we stopped giving it.

Source: resident physician who worked during the crisis.

Also, my hospital has been using this protocol for managing these patients. Here are te current recommendations regarding trump's favorite medication

  1. Hydroxychloroquine is NOT recommended in the treatment of COVID-19
  2. Upon review, the FDA concluded that it is unlikely that chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine may be effective in treating COVID-19 and that the benefits do not outweigh the risks for use in COVID-19, thereby revoking EUA 039 originally authorized on 3/28/20 (FDA EUA Revocation Letter June 15, 2020)

Viagra does something. Should we tell everyone to wolf it down to prevent COVID?

If they have pulmonary hypertension and they up the dose or if it has shown benefit along with Vitamin D3 like HCQ has, sure.

If you see someone decrying water "as it can kill you", yeah. Should be pretty obvious.

Oh but "technically" you're wrong, since it's the amoebas that gets you and not the water.

See, I can pointlessly split hairs too.
