Should you believe in victims no matter what?

Yes. No questions asked. 100% believe.

No. Question, and look into everything.

We should believe and investigate, however our entire system runs on "innocent until proven guilty".
We can't compromise that.

Too often people are too quick to find faults in a victims claims, and that added negativity to the investigation leads to fewer wanting to come out. We should believe them on the surface but not immediately attack the person they accused. For some reason everyone thinks they immediately have to take a side...you can support or listen to both people and start to swing as facts come out.

No. You shouldn't believe anything or anyone without supporting evidence.

It's less that you shouldn't believe them and more that you should hear both sides out and research the situation before coming to any conclusion. Having proof of an incident is important to supporting the victim's claim after all.

Accusations nowadays can be very damning for the accused, and they sometimes require little effort or evidence. If it is something serious, and law enforcement was never involved at the time the event happened, then I'd maybe put more weight towards the accused rather than the victim.

A relationship I had from 2008-09 ended badly, and I put it all behind me after the initial fallout. I then found out in 2016, through a mutual friend of both of ours, that this girl had apparently gone around to a couple of people we knew telling them I attempted to rape her while we were together. This obviously did NOT happen. But I didn't want to take any chances. I sent her a letter in the mail basically saying she has no credit or evidence to these accusations and that if she didn't stop spreading them, I would investigate possibly some kind of slander or harassment charge. I also got ahold of local law enforcement and let them know what was happening. They basically informed me to cease all contact with her, which I explained I had already done over the past seven years. And then they mentioned me possibly getting a restraining order against her, which I didn't do.

The reason my friend came to me is because he knew the accusation was rubbish, and never saw me as that type of person. So I don't know if she was doing it just to try and seperate me from my friends? Or if she was just being spiteful and/or trying to get me in some kind of trouble? But it stopped after that and I haven't heard anything from her since.

But it was scary. So yeah, listen, but do not automatically believe the "victim" in cases such as these.

Accusations should always be taken seriously and investigated. But the "believe all women" mentality is a stupid overreaction to a time in history where womens claims were often not heard or taken seriously.

That said, women are just people, and some people are liars.
