The plot with Taylor and the house fire was so god damn dark that it made me feel like shit as a 10 year old. Actually just Googled it and apparently the entire Animorphs series is 1,449,150 words compared to 1,084,170 for the Harry Potter series. Which is a bit more lopsided than I would've guessed tbh. I've maintained for years that Animorphs would make an awesome anime.
