If you test positive, your company has to give you 2 weeks off of work and gets federal aid to compensate you missing 2 weeks of work.

BUT, you're not supposed to go anywhere but home if you get tested, and tests take 2-3 days to come back.

If I test negative, my company will make me take 3 actual sick days, and they would not let me work up there now anyway due to my symptoms (I haven't even broken a 100 degree fever).

So people will go get tested and mask their symptoms and still go to work. Because if it there wasn't a pandemic my ass would be working right now with a scratchy throat and very low fever and malaise/lethargy. I'd suck it up to save my few sick days to actually miss work when I was actually sick.

Bullshit.

I work for a private company. But might as well be a corporation.

what is the difference between private and public sector exactly?

Is it that it's not mainstream, per se?

I'm not sure your question.

A Corporation is a company owned by shareholders. There are "private corporations", but that is like people with a small group of investors.

A public Corporation is one that will sell stock to anyone. Like the stock market is the public sector.

.....what is sick leave?

Companies still do that?

No wonder we can't "flatten the curve"

Sick leave is paid sick days. The feds are paying my company aid if I get coronavirus. And sick days I take dont go against my normal paid sick days if I'm being forced quarantine under doctor orders (which I am).

So it is helping flattening the curve. I know I won't be penalized if I come up negative but I don't have to work.
