Pure breed working line GSD?

I hear dogs are good for the health and I've literally been home alone the weeks my kids aren't here for like 2 years now. Besides talking to co-workers coming home gets boring when nobody is here. I know a GSD is a lot of work especially a puppy. My only issue is dog smell and I'd have to vacuum more since I'm a neat freak.

"purebred" dogs are the result of eugenics and can have serious health issues

a dog you get at a shelter will love you just as much, if not more, and will probably be healthier

I've found 2 or 3 decent ones in Ontario. I may look into it in 2021 after the pandemic.

I prefer the working line over show. I researched the breed about 3 years ago.

My boss brings her dog to work so I'll have to talk to her if I'm gonna go ahead with it next year. Cause I'd have to bring the puppy to work and crate. That gives me a better chance to deal with potty training.

No, go to the local animal shelter, get a free dog to adopt, if you don't adopt one of those shelter dogs, they'll be put down eventually.

"Pure Breed" is just humanity forcing inbreeding on Dogs to have certain traits.

It's literally Eugenics on Dogs.

a purebred working dog like a German Shepherd is totally justified to get in a lot of instances where the dog needs to work and such, but if you're literally only getting a dog as a companion and to comfort you and shit during isolation, you 100% absolutely should just get one from a shelter. You'd be saving a life and it would be far cheaper.

How am I trolling? I never said I wanted to adopt and users are saying I should.

Also I know a working line prefers doing stuff so I'd train it (I've looked into vids on Youtube before) and I'd get the dog to walk with me not drag me. Also the dog can be used as a guard dog for the house and my kids would highly enjoy that aspect too. I get very bored watching tv and playing video games when I get home from work since I did it a lot as a kid.

Well what are you looking for? The main questions that you should be asking yourself is do you really want a purebred dog? If you do decide on getting a purebred dog, then get one from a reputable breeder, not some backyard breeder selling pups for $400-600.

A reputable breeder does health and temperament tests on the parents. The parents either have show and/or working titles. They test for any congenital conditions, esp ones like hip dysplasia (which is unfortunately very common in German Shepards). They'll have a warranty for their puppies, a health guarantee like 2-3 years for any defects that develop and will often offer a replacement puppy while you get to keep your original dog. If anything happens and you are unable to keep the dog, a reputable breeder will require that you give the dog back to them.

Dogs like this will run $2,000-3,000. IMO it's better to have peace of mind knowing that a dog is well bred and is backed by the breeder than to get a dog from a backyard breeder that will develop crippling health problems (and hefty vet bills) and may have sketchy temperaments.

Yes I know all of this. Hence the topic title and the breeders I've looked into are highly reputable and offer warranty. That's why I don't wanna adopt or blow my money on a backyard breeder that sells for way less. Like I said I've done my research.

Just get a greyhound. You can get a retired racer. They don't need to be house trained and you don't have to deal with painfully annoying aspects of raising/training a puppy.

They're literally bred to be healthy and athletic, they don't have the health problems inherent in a breed like german shepherds. and they are easygoing. And you can get one for a couple hundred dollars. No need to spend thousands.

Just doing something incredibly illegal so that police have to release their police dogs on you.
Then as one of them is locked on your arm, book it back to your home.

Boom. You have a free pure bred German Shepard that is incredibly well-trained and you can save your 2-3 grand.

Yeah I will visit them once the time comes. And I'll visit at least 2 people who bought dogs from them where the dog is a bit older. I talked to 2 breeders 3 years ago and they were more than happy for me to visit them plus they have all legit paperworks and the dogs come with their shots.

this is true but also not. a mutt dog from a shelter is a toss-up between healthy/lot of problems. then again i might've gotten fortunate with the dog i adopted that only had 2 issues: a mange problem early on and a hematoma in the ear.

both of which weren't too hard financially for what she's given to me for taking care of her.
