The 18 y/o was shocked to receive a bill of 2499.26 for the police overtime caused by her protest as a civil liberties advocate called the move "shocking" and a lawsuit was about to be formed against it He said he rescinded the bill after reviewing the local ordinance he had cited and said "I was told that all private events require police overtime should be paid for by the organizers. It was never intended as a fine, but rather as a fee" The recent high school graduate organized the protest on July 25th just across the river from the uppermost parts of Manhattan as she called for action such as increasing affordable housing and blasted Engelwood Cliffs for not implementing it The letter said she had not met with officials before her 40 member protest happened as they "hastilty" came up with security plans She said she didn't meet with them in person over covid-19 concerns but made an offer to do it on Zoom which they rejected and stopped responding Kranjac said the protesters rights of free speech and assembly were respected by linking affording housing to her protest was wrong 4 Democratic members of the council called for the cancellation of the bill and for the Republican mayor to apologize..which he won't Is this mayor an idiot?
