I went and rewatched the trailer, and I've been thinking about some of the implications of the stuff not present in the trailer, and I am beyond excited

I just want to know more

I'd love to know more as well. But I'm kinda tempering my expectations, as BotW was meant as a new direction for the series so any elements from the older games making it in is hoping for a bit much.

Loved BotW, but I dunno if the sequel would end up giving us traditional dungeons.

The thing I'm most hyped about is the seemingly far lessened emphasis on ancient sheikah tech. The trailer has no shrines or towers on the overworld, and if certain theories are correct, 'dorf was being used as a power source to power all of the sheikah tech in the first place, which would completely explain why he was imprisoned in such a way with all of that energy and shit coming off of him. If there's little to no sheikah tech then I am RIDICULOUSLY stoked for the game. The overreliance on that style for everything including dungeons, "items", the map, the camera, etc is one of my least favorite things about BotW. I hope with all my heart and soul that we can get more traditionally contextualized map/items/camera/dungeons/etc

Let's not pretend there's any cohesive storyline between the games. The next game can be stylized and justified with any lore they would like.

I mean, yeah of course. But this is literally a direct sequel in the same world directly following the events of BotW <_<

It's more than reasonable to have theories about a direct sequel based off of the trailer and the first game

Yeah, I heard about that theory. That's one of the more interesting theories I've heard about the game's lore. Would be interesting if it ended up true. Apparently they said the sequel's gonna be much darker in tone? Would kinda fit the tone, that theory.

Normally I don't go for weird wacky theories like that, and some of the finer points that they make are far-fetched and reachy, But the general sentiment of why he was imprisoned like that and what he was being used for seems to me to be way more than valid- I believe it tbh. It gets me really excited when you consider that (based on the theory) Calamity Ganon isn't Ganon at all, and is just a projection. It was just Phantom Ganon the whole time, essentially. So the entirety of breath of the Wild was just preparing to fight this huge scary demon monster that wasn't even Ganon himself lmao

I personally don't want a hookshot at all, I desperately want a grappling hook with proper physics that you can latch on to nearly anything. I want to swing around god dammit lmao

It was specifically listed as a sequel to BotW, and shows (presumably) the same Link and Zelda

You may be hard pressed to connect Minish Cap to Links Awakening, but some games follow directly after the events of others

MM, WW, and TP are direct sequels to OoT. ST and PH are sequels to WW. LA, OoS, OoA, and ALBW are sequels to ALttP.

Oh yeah, this is another big one. I desperately want unarmed combat. I want to punch ganondorf in the face god damn it lmao

Plus, if they add fist-fighting, That can easily be turned into a subset of weapons as well. Fist weapons would be an excellent addition

I'm worried that we'll be treading into the same world as BoTw. Although it would be neat if we got a traditional Zelda game within the world of BoTW, although that would confuse a lot of BoTW players.

They should really make two teams and start giving us two Zelda games instead of one. One that works on the traditional games and one that works on BoTw style. Although that may be asking too much...it'd be nice. I'd buy both, definitely.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed already that it takes place within the exact same world as breath of the wild. I can't imagine they won't make major changes though. The trailer implies large geographical changes imo when the castle shakes the ground and starts rising out of the earth.

I suspect the world will be generally the same geographically, but with large chasms, cracks in the earth, destroyed forests, regrown forests, rebuilt towns, etc. I also kind of expect underground areas, which would be a godsend.

I can't imagine they won't make it compelling.

It'll be very underwhelming if it's the same map, tbh. Even with changes to the state of the landscape and the enemies/etc. A lot of the fun of BoTW was entering a new area with the complete anxiety that you had no idea what you were in for, searching for a tower and traversing landscapes blind to reach it.

I am almost 100% sure it's already confirmed it'll be the same map. I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you are expecting anything more drastic than a heavily edited BotW Hyrule imo <_<

It's got a really good premise but I think the issue is that most of the plot happened in the past, and there's not very many cutscenes.

The sequel having a more prominent plot has potential. Especially if they get better voice acting.
