I'm more of a battle rifle or lmg/mmg/hmg/gpmg/lsw kinda guy. So it's sad when they're overpowered/broken or useless like usual.

But you kinda nailed it... they're versatile/adaptable, thus usually the best all around without being total trash at one thing, because that's the "best balance". Usually this results in good at everything, with everything else struggling for some arbitrary reason outside of a niche window. Oh wells

Oh yeah, this reminds me of when I was playing Modern Warfare 2019 and hearing the amount of salt and whining when someone was 'camping with an lmg' made me laugh. I'd rather someone be posted up with a kill box near an objective than someone slide jumping with an smg/AR.
