This is an awful take.

There should be a much lower legal limit for BAC. People cannot accurately gauge how much they drank and "know" their alcohol level. Also people respond differently to alcohol - one time you might have three drinks and feel perfectly okay, other times you might have 3 and feel hammered. There is far too much ambiguity.

Theyre not called accidents anymore, it infers no fault

So, because everyone's different, and the same individual may be situationally different, we need an even lower universal standard applied to everyone?

What would that standard even be? We've already crept down from 0.15 to 0.1 to 0.08.
0.04? Any measurable amout?

A dose of cough medicine can cause you to blow about .02. The .08 limit in most states (I think all 50 now actually) is very, very fair and doesn't take much to reach or surpass.

You're proving the point here. If you're taking enough cough syrup to raise your BAC that much, you shouldn't be driving anyway. In fact, if you're taking any type of medication that impacts your ability to operate a vehicle, you shouldn't be driving.

And from what I read, you would need 12 teaspoons of cough syrup to get a BAC of 0.12. That's a lot of cough syrup.
