Yep, I drive it every day to work too.

Both of my two accidents in my life were on this road.

It's amazing how insane the drivers are.

I think it's a combination.

They're Houston drivers, so they're fast and aggressive.

Spring, where I-45 runs through, is one of the top drunk driver places in the country, meaning there's drunks causing accidents on I-45.

And then the road itself is poorly constructed. There are many spots with zero shoulder, you're going 70 mph right up against a stone barrier with zero room to maneuver. The lanes are very narrow, and there's lots of potholes. There are entrances with little ramp space to merge, so people just fly on and just pull into the main lanes.

And the amount of traffic is just the right amount to be dangerous. Any more traffic, and it'd be a standstill and actually more safe, any less traffic, and you'd have plenty of space between cars. But there's that perfect amount of traffics that means everybody is jammed up against each other, tailgating each other, all going like 80 mph. It's just pure insanity.

The tail gating is just in general very bad. Everybody tail gates, even if you're in the slow lane and they could easily go around you, they choose to just ride your bumper.

Oh and also there's a very high percentage of massive semi trucks too. Often the entire road is filled with them, moreso than any other place I've driven. I can't explain this phenomenon.

Is it really though? South bound got better after the expansion. What is it eight lanes now? There's hardly any congestion now. Northbound I remember being bad at rush hour especially around the gallery furniture area but I don't remember that many accidents. I think there was a CEman who owned a vape shop on the sound bound side. Wonder if he noticed this? Either way drivers suck now. Noone follows the rules anymore. Good driving is a lost art.

fucking hate tailgaters, wish it was legal to toss hammers out of your window at them mario kart style. they're a major reason you see accidents, all because they want to get to the next exit or stoplight a few seconds faster...

I drove out to Galveston the other day and all the construction and land closures and stone barriers with no shoulder, all combined for an anxiety filled drive

That's me, I managed our edgebrook location and now run our friendswood vacation, and yes the massive amount of lanes is super nice, but that's only from like Beltway 8 to Nasa Bypass

I have a Sun Roof, too bad it would be illegal for me to toss the hammer at the tail gater behind me.

ah, reminds me of when I was working in Boston while they were redoing I-93 a few years ago. I was pretty sure I was gonna die at some point

Outside of Beltway 8 in general it gets better and less stressful. It's mostly inside that's the problem.

All Cars need a "Anti-Douche Bag Behavior System".

Prevents the drivers from doing Douche Bag like driving behaviors like:
"Tail-Gating the car ahead of them".
"Changing Lanes without Signaling".
"Changing Lanes when a vehicle is already in place to your Left/Right and trying to force people out"
etc.

I know one thing about 45 going north - the first time it hits 610 and splits both right and left, that left route is prone for an accident daily in the morning. Motherfuckers in the left fast lane have to get off it since it only goes onto 610 and they're trying to be "smart" (sarcasm) and get back onto 45.

And if you go on it on Friday and Saturday night after 8, the question is more who isn't drunk than who is.
