for a while my acura tl has been having a hard time turning on. it would crank and crank and crank and finally turn on. i figured it was time to buy a new battery and just kept my jumper kit nearby

then one day i was gonna take it for a ride and the check engine light turned on. uh oh.

so i decided to buy a 30 dollar scanner tool thatll connect to my phone. checked the codes and it said uh.. well stuff about the coolant and it gave me a code.

i googled that code, and i found a bunch of videos selling me that the car can't detect how hot the coolant is, and its 99% likely that its the Engline Coolant Temperature Sensor.

so i hopped back on amazon, bought one for 25 dollars, got it today, opened up my hood, found the sensor, pulled it out, put the new one in, cleared teh codes on the car with the device, ran it for a while and bam, no more check engine light.

if i had taken it to my mechanic, he probably would have charged me 25 for the part, 100 for the labor, and then probably would want to change the coolant for another 45.

instead i spent 25 for the part, and 30 for a tool i can use in the future.

if i had a lot of time, lot of patience, and uh, more tools i would do it myself lol

but for my car i have to take out the front wheel and ugh.

not saying don't take it to a mechanic, just try to diy if you can
