especially when the text is actually in the textbox and merges with what you're typing. there's even one site I use where the search box makes no indication that you've activated it at all, and just sits there rock solid with default text in it if you click it, only changing if you happen to start typing.

Even worse on mobile when you start typing anyone and it magically just tacks onto the placeholder text.

I hate it more when the search bar shows a dropdown of suggested results, you click off the search bar because you dont care about the search anymore and want to return to the current content on the page, but the dropdown covers up a big chunk of the content.

That is pretty annoying, especially when it glitches and the dropdown doesn't go away when you click off of it.
