I like the weight of that. But I usually suck at the games that have it >_>

Im playing Chronicles. That's what made me bring it up. I suck at these games. I wasn't aware Fire Emblem was a permadeath character game. I love the added intensity of losing your units for good, even if I do suck

I was being cheeky.

You get all your party members in 1 after they die, except maybe 2.

it is a possibility in Baldurs Gate. if someone dies a normal death, they can be revived at a temple for a cost. but if they "get chunked" there is no coming back. basically sometimes the killing blow is like a crit attack or whatever. I forget what the game calls it but it makes the victim's body explode in chunks. and then the only way to get them back is reload an older save.

Valkyria Chronicles? Totally unrelated to Valkyrie Profile (unless there's some lore connection I'm unaware of).

Also VP doesn't have permadeath as a gameplay mechanic. Avoiding spoilers, you can "dismiss" party members semi-permanently for rewards.

I mean you could apply that to any game that lets you swap party members.

If you can easily replace the party member that died, then yeah.

WAS the most prominent example.

Nowadays it doesn't matter. Player units are so OP that there is no real difference between Casual and Classic mode because no one ever fucking dies. (Plus it seems rewind mechanics are here to stay anyway.)

Because you have to fuck up exceptionally bad to actually let someone turn into a crystal unless you're doing it on purpose to get skills onto another unit. AND you can always replace lost units in FFT since all but a select few are generics. There is no real weight to it.

Sure, but it's still possible.

Um...if you keep all the non-generic PCs there's literally no room left in the roster. I think I even had to release Boko to make room for the named PCs. It's more than "a select few."

I was so out of it when I made this topic. Looked like an idiot when I got corrected on literally every statement I made lol.

Ended up playing my 1st try at Fall Guys for 3 hours instead of continuing VC. I was too embarrassed to look it in the face.
