Just checked back in on this. It could be awhile before you get permanent relief. It very much depends on where it is and how stuck it gets at any one point.

Sometimes it's the initial attack and then that lasts a few hours and im done. Other times it's some smaller attacks until the big finish.

Once I had one the size of a dime rattle around in my kidney for a long while because it couldn't fit out. They eventually did the thing where they sit you in a waterbed chair thing and blast you with ultrasound to shatter it. You piss out some sand after you wake up which is weird but doesn't hurt. I recommend it if it's an option for you. I wasnt trying to pass that thing. Most of them are like 2mm or so. 17 is insane.

Also, whatever medicine they give to widen your pipes (Flomax for me) a bit is highly recommended. It makes the final stretch nothing instead of slicing up the insides on it's way out. Id rather not have to deal with lingering burning pee if I don't have to.

Lithotripsy uses sound waves to break up large kidney stones into smaller pieces. These sound waves are also called high-energy shock waves. The most common form of lithotripsy is extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy

This is what i would ask for fuck passing stones that shit hurts

This is what I was talking about in my post. They knock you out so the anesthesia kind of kicks your ass some, but it's overall a much better experience.

I think I peed out a stone now.

It was very small, like maybe 1-2 millimeters. Now my D burns. But I haven't had any kidney stone pain today.

Never had treatments, so that sounds interesting.

I have had maybe four stones total, but the good thing was they were spread far apart in occurrence, like one every three years or so. The most recent one did not hurt much and was just kind of uncomfortable, but I swear there were two that had me in a fetal position for several hours, except when I was dry heaving from the pain.

Sorry about your experience, TC. I hope you never get it again.
