I've FORCED myself to listen to Radiohead and Lana Del Rey and can't do it man

I'm sorry. They're boring.

No...why would you do that? I mean it's nice to try new stuff, but if you don't like it, you don't like it. That being said, I've had certain artists that took me forever to connect with but then became my favorites.

Radiohead is pretty amazing, at least from what I have heard so far.
Not gonna lie, I overlooked them for a while.

Paranoid Android is far from boring.
~That is not a one-off song either.

OK Computer is their best album IMO and has been called the most influential album of the 90s by many music critics.

Ya, I am about to buy a box set of their first few albums.
I am trying not to spoil them too bad, so I've only kept to a few songs.

Kinda

I really dug Foster the People's "Torches" album. I've tried really hard to get into their later albums as a result and just have not had any success

So kinda similar to your topic

I personally like their first fews albums the best (with OK at the top)--I feel they got a little too experimental after, but still good. Their first big hit "Creep" was like my anthem at 13

Kid A is certainly something amazing. Personally, I think In Rainbows is their best overall in terms of execution, but Kid A was extremely influential in so many ways.

Ya, there are a lot of bands like that.
Sometimes those raw earlier hold a real charm about them
I think of The Talking Head, the early The Who stuff..The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and hell Iron Maiden.
Gotta love those raw rookie years. Which is not to say, other good things did not come. But that rawness is irreplaceable.

As a Pink Floyd fan for at least three decades, I still have no idea where to go between Waters and Gilmour.

You don't have to.
But don't you mean, Barrett and Waters.
~At least in this context.

Having said that. I was a fan for ages before...besides knowing those to differences who was who.
I once saw it said, they held back from making themselves pop stars to the point where they could walk through their own concert and no one would even know.

I can only think of two albums, where their likeness is even pictured....and only one on the cover.

I do not.
When Barrett wandered off, Wright was the driving force for a couple or three albums.

Waters didn't become dominant until Animals, despite writing most of TDSOTM.

Obligatory all of them:

For the past few months, I've been going through albums featured in "1001 albums you must hear before you die" lists. Most of the time, I like what I hear, or at least don't find it bad. Now and then, though, comes an album that I don't understand, or actually dislike. Caetano Veloso most likely resonates most with Brazilians, but to my ears, it was just a collection of unremarkable bossa nova-influenced late 1960s pop.

Another was Chelsea Girl. There was one song I liked, the rest I didn't. It's Nico's voice that I take issue with. She's not much of a singer, or a vocalist. She more or less speaks the lyrics in this flat, detached and dreary voice that only annoys me. I really like Laura Nyro's songs, however, but her distinctly breathy inhaling is irritatingly distracting. That's only 3 albums out of over a hundred I've heard so far. I know I won't like Van Morrison and his squawky wails, though...

So, with all that said, I partly dread listening to one of those albums that lie in the top 10 of all time albums lists. I half expect to not like OK Radiohead. It's late 90s alt-rock, a genre I'm not enthusiastic about...

I think so but I can't remember.

What I hate is when you like some of their singles here and there but can't really enjoy the majority of their discography. Or they have one album you resonate with and then the others...not so much ;(

Or you listen to one of their albums, and like every song but the one that's universally regarded as their all-time best.
