If you want a single hard date it's when Roman emperor Constantine converted to Christianity and unbanned the religion in 313CE and finally when Theodosius made Christianity the state religion in 380CE and banned paganism in 393CE. But it was a gradual process and not everyone converted in the 4th century

The Eastern Roman Empire was arguably the more Christian half too since their headquarters in Constantinople, founded by Constantine the great, was simply a Christian epicenter. It isnt viewed like that anymore in the west because of the old Catholic/Orthodox schism. Well, and because the Ottomans conquered the city too, but that was later.
