The irony is that your analogy seeks to make a very historically complex problem a simple one. You're also assuming this is something that has evolved in a linear progression from the time certain laws have been put in place which is not the case. The crime bill of the clinton administration is a glaring example of one of these setbacks in the 90s. I'm pretty sure it's closer to the other way around in that they see someone use the word "Conservative" and assume the person saying it really means "Alt Right." I don't necessarily blame the majority for this assumption what with recent events and how many so-called Conservatives haven't actually been Conservative in the brightest nor optimistic sense. Anyone who actually think Alt-Right in Conservative, regardless of their political affiliation, is sadly mistaken.

It's funny that someone who regularly argues on behalf of the right uses "manchildren" to describe members of the left in general, just as many on the right, especially the alt-right, use "snowflake" to describe the left in general. Meanwhile, how many of the same right or alt-right, either one, can't seem to accept change, however reasonable, without flying off the handle? How many can't go out without their toy guns strapped to their side? How many can't go a fraction of the time they said they'd hide out in their bunkers because of claims of economic welfare or (more likely) because they need a damn haircut? Projections and generalizations are funny in all the wrong ways.
