I was expecting 10 years of hype to diminish the appeal but I'm hooked

No spoilers please I've managed to avoid spoilers for an entire decade

The first 3 are good. The last 2 are terrible.

The last two are not terrible. Just different focus and new storylines.

I enjoyed Dorne more the second/third time around.

A Feast For Crows and A Dance Wtih Dragons are great, especially on a second readthrough. The only problem is that damn near every plotline is left dangling for Winds of Winter to someday, someday resolve in a spectacular Storm of Swords 2.0 fashion.

Its so good. I was expecting the writing to be dry for some reason but I'm devouring the pages with excitement

So are the Starks supposed to be the protagonists/good guys? And the lannisters are the bad guys? Only just started but no spoilers

I know Im not joined by many in this but that was actually probably my favorite perspective/plotline in Book 1.

The prologue chapter was probably the best introduction to a story I've ever read. I was pretty dismissive of the series before I started it, but that prologue hooked me instantly.

My favorite book series of all time

If you have any questions just PM me, please. I'm really knowledgeable series. That's not to say that others here haven't read the series and can't answer those questions, but the people who have read the book series once or twice will not remember the order of events as clearly as someone like me would and could spoil you by mistake.

My God, that introductory chapter with the 5 (6) direwolves, that was such an amazing way to introduce the character.

I really want to read it, but I refuse to start something that has a good chance of never being completed.

Read the three Dunk and Egg stories. Sure, those are not going to get finished, but they don't really need to. They all get resolved

I don't know how you can call it good writing.

The plot is amazing, but sweet fucking lord Martin writes terribly. I still enjoy the series, but it's Tolken levels of garbage prose.

Feast is only bad compared to the first three. On it's own it's good literature. It's slower paced and doesn't have much stuff happening but has a lot of meat for world building and rereads

Dance has some of the best written chapters in the entire series. Nobody can call the Theon chapters bad with a straight face. Jon Snow is at his best here. The issue is that the overarching plot isn't as good as the first three. It's definity weaker than the first three but there's some really good stuff in it.

Wait there's only five books? Well shit, I have the entire series then. Found all five at Goodwill for a dollar a piece last year. Just haven't gotten around to actually reading them yet. I thought there was one book per season of the show, hadn't ever actually looked into it.

There are enough plots that get resolved and lots of cool character development imo. Ive read all 5 books and wont be upset if the series is never completed. They were worth the read either way.

The books are great. Most characters are brilliantly fleshed out, even those without a POV. Some of the snippets of lore you hear secondhand are brilliant.

But I could do without paragraphs upon paragraphs of detailing what every character is wearing or eating at any given time.

Oh my God. Oh my God oh my God.

He killed him. That one lannister, brother of the queen, he killed bran stark, the little one. He pushed him off the ledge.

I dont want to continue reading its too shocking. My first intro to the incest stuff I was warned about and it was disgusting enough without that bit of evil
