Civil Rights Act

Child Nutrition Act
Reinstating SNAP
Head Start
Elementary and Secondary Education Act

Vietnam was terrible and should be condemned in the strongest terms possible, but it should be noted that LBJ had a peace deal secured in '68 before Nixon blew it up.

LBJ was a racist and an opportunist.
And he still knuckled down and strongarmed Congress into passing not one, but two landmark pieces of civil rights legislation.

Sure. With self serving, cynical intentions

First Cold War
Is there a second Cold War I'm not aware of? And by my count, the Cold War ended in '91, a whole 3 years after Reagan left office.

The Second Cold War is the tension going on right now between Russia and the West, as well as tension between China and the West.

I think Reagan's leadership was instrumental in ending the first Cold War. He had talks with the Russian leadership which lead to the INF treaty.

The 90s (as I remember them) were safe and prosperous for America, with very few major tragedies. The economy was strong.

Really? Not Nixon's detente? Either way, if you're gonna credit anyone with ending the Cold War, it's H.W. Bush.

But did Clinton do anything, or was he just coasting off previous administrations? The accomplishments I listed for LBJ were absolutely monumental and continue to help Americans every single day.

JFK, if only for the fact that he planted the seeds for those pieces of legislation.

LBJ deserves no credit whatsoever for a peace deal with Vietnam considering he was literally the guy who elevated it from a conflict to a war with a ****ing draft.

I was listening to a podcast about JFK yesterday and they said LBJ and JFK we're enemies in the prinairies and he was excited about his death and insisted to be inaugerated next to his body on airforce one

Sounded like a very cutthroat guy

It was never a war. It was still just a conflict.

I've heard that LBJ was scared shitless after JFK got shot, because he assumed he was next.
