Yes I feel bad for them. But when you break into someone's home, that person is rightfully fearful of their life and I do agree with legal protections for defending yourself in your own home.

It's tragic in a way, but obviously their victims were more justified. A lot of these are crimes of desperation and impulse. Most criminals are made rather than born.

I might have sympathy for a homeless person that gets arrested for shoplifting food or someone that gets locked up for smoking weed or something. But that's about the extent of my sympathy for criminals. Violent criminals that threaten/harm others? They are fucking scum.

Sometimes, especially if they are young.
You can show empathy for the person being gunned down even if you support the laws that make it legal to kill them.

If a robbers life sucks so much that they need to endanger the lives of others buy robbing while armed then the victim of said robber is doing the robber a service by putting them out of aforementioned misery.

But why do they deserve sympathy? They didn't OD on heroin or something. Something like that is stupid and illegal but not really anything "evil". Pulling a weapon on someone and trying rob them though? That's not just stupid, that's truly despicable behavior. Anyone that does shit on that level is an awful person. It's literally one step away from murdering innocent people.

I do not consider breaking & entering or home invasions "self defense". In many cases criminals attempting a robbery in those instances have every intention on busting up or killing any witnesses they meet inside. It's why most of them are armed with weapons when performing the crime, especially when the invasion is less about stealing property and more about attacking the residents (such as stalking and rape cases). When people are terrified of a home invader, it's primarily because of how often said invader can have murderous intent either initially or frantically in a panic after being discovered. When a crook claims they "only brought a weapon to protect themselves"...what they really mean is they brought it to threaten or cut down any witness and make a clean escape. The crook is never the victim in a home invasion. If they get their head blown off doing it...you might as well chalk it up to them shooting themselves, which they could have completely avoided by not illegally entering the property and startling the occupants.

If someone is foolish enough to attempt a robbery of a business at weapon point, as far as I'm concerned they are willingly forfeiting their life in a slim chance at loot. The is no element of self defense for the criminal; they chose to put themselves in danger by threatening other peoples' lives. No tears from me.

It's the old saying "play stupid games, win stupid prizes". One of those potential prizes just happens to be death, always has been. It's a well-known standard hazard of choosing a life of armed robbery. If you don't want your kid's mugshot winding up on the news for theft and homicide, the place to start is at home where you're supposed to be raising them better...

They are doing bad things but in their own minds a lot of them arent doing something nearly as wicked as murder.

I support castle doctrine laws but you shouldn't assume everyone that gets killed committing a crime is a potential serial killer. Usually it's that they did some dumb shit and paid a price that doesnt make them a demon.

Depends on the circumstances.

Someone robbing because they have to do so for food? Yeah a little.

Someone robbing to do so for a quick fix or to get electronics they don't need? No
