Having a dog is like caring for a child that never grows up. You have to tend to the ir every need all day, every day and they excel in making messes and creating medical bills.

This. Most dog owners dont put in the effort to be responsible for them. And most dogs are understimulated even if their owners arent assholes.

I love dogs, and thats why I think this. I feel bad for my neighbors dogs who howl 16 hours a day, more than Im annoyed by it. I feel bad for any dog that isnt being treated with the responsibility needed.

Agreed. It shouldn't be acceptable to have a dog that never leaves your house. There's a reason why dogs get so excited to go anywhere. It's because they're not happy sitting in the damn house their entire lives. At least cats don't seem to care as much about a more secluded life. Get a cat if that's what you want. But I might be wrong, I never owned a cat for an extended time. Maybe they hate it too.

No one without a yard should be able to own a dog its cruel leaving them in a house or apt all day with no one home

Two dogs.

Don't hate them but I never ever cared for dogs all that much. The need for attention and clinginess, the smell, the noise they make, bleh.

Much rather have a Cat or some sort of lizard, amphibian, or bird.

I just think it's funny that all the anti dog people in this topic just assume no one takes care of their dogs.

Now granted I don't have one right now bc the apartment doesn't allow it but my mom's dog is very well taken care of. All our dogs were. And my sister also has a dog that is very well taken care of.

Yall are just demonizing dog owners and lovers for no reason just cuz ur mad a dog bit you once or something.

Well guess what I was bitten by a dog when I was 10 and while I had a fear of dogs for a while I grew up and got over it like a normal human being.

It's so easy nowadays for people to be comfortable living in fear and demonizing the things that scare them instead of taking it on headfirst.

For cats, it seems to be a personality thing. Some cats I've had loathe being outside. Others I've seen practically zoom out past you given an opportunity.

Keeping a dog dependent on you creates Stockholm syndrome in the animal, where it has to go against its natural instincts, Should dogs be bred for the sole purpose of being companions for humans, sure their are plenty of people that take good care of their pets. theres also plenty of people that abandon or mistreat them also. I wonder if well ever get so technology advanced that we could hear a dogs thoughts on the morality of keeping them as pets
