The 1950s stuff is ingrained in the imagery of the game for some people now since Bethesda goes overboard. I've heard people say "They can't have a Fallout game take place in China since there would be no 1950s design stuff anywhere!"

pardon my ignorance, but it's basically post-apocalyptic atompunk isn't it? if there was a time when nuclear war was most plausible, it was the 1950s to early 1960s.

The Great War happened in 2077. Either what we know as classic jazz only came about then, or culture just kinda stopped for a hundred years in that universe.
