Do I need a charger? I think Nintendon't include those in their packaging anymore. What games are good? I really only bought it because I realized there's two whole Pokemon gens I've never played so XY and Sun Moon are first. Will I need an SD card? Is there an online store so I won't have to buy everything physically?

I believe it comes with a memory card, which is all you need if you are buying physical games. But I think its only like 4GB, so youll want a bigger card if you wanna go digital in any capacity (yes, there is an only store).

As for games, keep in mind that its backwards compatible with the original DS as well. These two are definitely good ones to start off with:

I actually really liked the 3D so 2ds hurts my soul a bit.

Anyway, as you listed Pokmon and I mainly played RPGs on mine.

There are various SMT games, the bravely games by square, monster hunter (more action, but still), fire emblem, and quite a few more.

For SMT I would recommended 4 apocalypse, I liked both default and second for bravely, and generations for MH. Though I know some people will say that 4 and 4U respectively are better.

oh, and I liked the gen 3 remakes a lot as well for pokemon

There's no point in getting base sun and moon at all if he gets ultra. They're the same game for 75 percent of the story, with ultra being blessed with actual post game content

It was the most pointless goddamn feature they ever invested in. Had the 2ds with a clamshell design been a thing from the start it would have been the obvious choice. To this day, the only game that needed it at any point was mario and that was for a few seconds only on a couple of worlds.

Needed isn't the point, I thought it added a really cool look to the games, that's all.

Some of it's later uses, the bravely games in particular impressed the hell out of me. Of course I have always thought some kind of projection board that you played rpgs on would be the coolest thing ever, like the the board from the original Star Wars but not shit.

I'd get a 32 or 64 GB SD card depending on how much you intend to play it. As for the games you should get (in no particular order):

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Kirby Triple Deluxe
Kirby: Planet Robobot
Mario Kart 7
New Super Mario Bros. 2
Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon (maybe Gates to Infinity if you're already a series fan)
Resident Evil Revelations
Super Mario 3D Land
Tales of the Abyss
Ocarina of Time 3D
A Link Between Worlds
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

I'd also recommend getting the Boxboy trilogy (Boxboy, Boxboxboy, and Bye-Bye Boxboy), as they're some really great puzzle games.

Is there a max capacity for memory card space? I know it's an old console and IIRC even the 1st gen Switch couldn't read anything higher than 512 GB or something. I would imagine if there was a cap for the DS, it'd be a lot smaller than 512 GB.

Looking at Nintendos site, it appears that a 32GB microSD card is the limit. I believe thats what Ive been using, and its honestly way more than enough. The games arent that big to download.
