I'm completely captivated by it.

Trudging across the wasteland, looking out for BTs and MULES, seeing whatever other players have left behind, having to carefully manage my movement/carrying

This is just... something else

maybe it gets better later on, but after about 10-15 hours, I felt that it wasn't for me.

I remember taking this story related mission, where they say it's your longest one yet, and after about 30 minutes having to go through the timefall and stealth past BTs, my cargo was damaged, and I knew that I wasn't going through that again.

plus I really disliked how people would contact you ALL the time. idk if there's any way to disable that feature.

it gets better once you get vehicles but the mules are pretty easy to take care of tbh.

you also get better weapons.

MULES are simple to deal with

BTs actually make me legitimately anxious whenever I run into them.

But yeah, it worked out that a bunch of other players dumped resources into the particular section I'm in right now so the highway is pretty much all finished. So I just hop on my bike and zip around. Breeze right over the MULES and BTs

Glad more people are giving it a shot. It's an amazing game. The Mules get harder over time. Have you tried throwing your cargo at them to knock them out and catching it again?

The game isn't for everyone, but if it does click for you it's such an enjoyable experience .

Setting up my zipline network through the mountains was just so satisfying.

If you got past the first section and still didn't like it your opinion isn't likely to change. I hated the first few chapters then once the second section started and you get exoskeletons and vehicles and other tools it was great to me.

Its cool at first then it just gets boring as shit. The story was also kinda lame. I never understood why Kojima gets so much praise for his writing when a lot of it is nonsense

If you haven't played past chapter 3 you haven't really gotten to the start of the game. But if you don't like it by chapter 5 than it isn't for you imo.

The game is/was marketed by Kojima as a social interaction game. So, no, you can't disable it.
