well, not a relationship. not officially. just two people talking far apart.

its a women in malaysia. we've talked for months, video chatted many times, etc. she has never asked for money or any favors. i enjoy talking to her, but i have trust issues and i am paranoid that she is a scam.

for the record, i am VERY insecure

prolly a really shitty definition, but i always saw it as spending lots of time with someone and having mutual feelings. i dont just mean going on dates, but just doing regular activities like laundry and watching tv.

Being saddled with all the baggage of a real relationship without any of the warmth and cuddling that comes from being physically together with someone is incredibly difficult for most people. You dont want to close yourself off from opportunities to meet/have genuine connections with local women.

I've been talking with this chick in the Philippines for 9 months now. I had actually a flight to see her in March but it got cancelled due to covid, but as soon as I get the chance to see her, I'm heading over there and filling a k1 to get her over here.

But it also is due to my career, I'm on the road most of the time and few American girls will delay their careers and commit to that lifestyle.

That being said, you definitely have to be careful. There's the obvious advice but there's things people don't think of that can be good tells if she's legit like she'd tell her family about you and obviously they'd want to talk to you and get to know you.

Honestly, if the two of you aren't deeply connected and you're not giving her money it's not that bad of an idea. She could be lying but so what if she is? Just ignore her and move on knowing nothing of value was lost.

Nope. I'm at a point now where I am not the least bit suspicious. But I've also gotten to know her mother/ grandma/friends too. And if I didn't come along she was planning on moving to Canada with her mother so it's not like she was desperate to go to the US. I also found her, not the other way around.

OKCupid. A filipina had set her location to where I was and gave me the idea to try it in Manila. I was actually mostly looking for vacation spots though but I also liked the attention you get being an American in that area. You become the one who is desired which was a nice change of pace.

It is what it is. I was long-distance dating a Filipina girl living in Helsinki a few years back. We met on Facebook somehow. She was extremely attractive and she thought my jokes were funny.

If you find a way to make it work, make it work.

My boss's girlfriend lives in Iceland and he only physically sees here once or twice a year. They make it work somehow.

Most women date up. Just think of it like this.
Instead of dating you for a green card, she could be dating you because you make 6 figures. This also doesn't mean it is the only reason she is dating you.
That is, if you were dating an American woman instead, would she be interested in your finances?

That's true, that's a good outlook on it. But you hear about people sometimes that will data man so that they can get some kind of benefit, once they receive that benefit they will dump him. That kind of thing happens to both men and women, not saying it's exclusive to one gender. But I'm just giving this in my perspective.
