I had no idea what the numbers were but now I see it with that chart. FML I make 250 a week working full time. Wish I had got fired.

You make below federal minimum wage?

In what circumstances can states pay less than federal minimum?

OP chart doesn't seem to take into acount taxes. I make 7.25 an hour. After taxes are taken out I get 250.

I got that the chart is pretax. I assumed you did too, and would have listed pretax, since you were making the direct comparison.

"Economic stimulus" is a really difficult concept for some people to understand. Everyone should be getting extra payments.

It's almost like the economy isn't concerned about the middle-class. But we already knew that.

Worth pointing out those are gross earnings. Payroll tax takes a chunk out of that that they won't see back until tax time.
By the way, even the gross is sad. $290 a week is $1,160/month and $13,920/year. Good luck living on that!

Except these people are getting a lot more money than most essential workers. (Who should be paid more too!)

Unemployment money is also taxed. Its earned income.

Yeah, I know, I was just pointing out how pathetically little money the national minimum wage is.

Yeah, everyone should be getting paid more. It's like when EMTs complain that they "only make $15 an hour, so burger flippers shouldn't make just as much." Point is that everyone deserves to be paid better.
