Current Events > Something's wrong with my PS4's disc drive and it's pissing me off

For some reason the physical CD drive has moved up an inch or two inside the unit and the front of the drive is blocking the slot that the discs are supposed to be inserted into. I can push the drive back down with a screwdriver but it just immediately pops back into the incorrect position as soon as the screwdriver is removed.

1. How the fuck does this even happen? The machine hasn't been slammed, dropped, or otherwise abused. And
2. I'm going to have to open the goddamn thing up or pay some jackass like $150 for a job that takes him five minutes because he knows what he's doing, aren't I.

First of, Your Disc Drive does NOTHING it is there to Install the game that's it, games do not run anything off Disc Drive.

Just go digital, what's the point?

Maybe you damaged the ps4 shell at some point or something? You didn't drop it or something?

And let's not forget you can lose a finger or dick if you get too close to the spinning disc. I've seen it a hundred times.

First off, I still have to insert the disc to play the game.

Second, due to licensing rights issues Farsight's Pinball Arcade had to remove most of their good tables a couple years ago, before I had the funds to buy them, so the only way to get and play them anymore is with the disc.

Third, maybe I want to watch one of the many old DVDs I have around, and the PS4 is the only DVD player I still have.

Fourth, I have several digital games purchased and downloaded on my system already.

Fifth, why the hell are you so pissy over my wanting to use my disc drive?

Just to let you know, the PS4 cannot read DVD's or compact discs at all. Well technically it could read the format and all, even identify the wavelength of the disc however by default and without any hardware/software modifications the PS4 will not play a DVD or compact disc.

Well that's news to me, seeing as I watched my copy of The Cat Returns off of the PS4's disc drive a few months ago.

That's pretty bizarre...
The ps4's disc drive is a blue ray drive, but it was specifically designed to only read PS4 games and blue ray discs.
Edit: oh wait my bad, the PS4 can DVD's
