The interferons released into the tissue and blood ensure that the number of ACE2 receptors on the surface of the surrounding epithelial cells increases two to three times in the epithelial cells (especially in the lower lung ducts). ACE2 are the entry points for the corona virus. The immune system itself paves the way for the virus into many cells. According to Lehmann, "the virus really comes to the aid". At the same time, more and more cytokines are released. An ominous alliance is what Eils calls, which causes all subsequent inflammatory processes to get out of hand.
