I'm currently a math and science tutor; I just need to possess the necessary knowledge of the subject as well as the right method to instruct students well.

In the field I'm working towards, software development, there's a lot of science needed - particularly math and computer science.

can you use a calculator? can you type and click? can you open an excel file? you can do my job. and frankly it seems like some of this is hard for certain people I work with.

I guess it can be too repetitive for some people...I mean that's the way I can see why they would complain....

While occasionally I'll be tasked with writing up a compound that asks for something being a certain percentage after being diluted by another substance, most of the math I do in the pharmacy is calculating how long a drug will last for a patient so the claim will adjudicate through insurance when it's time for a refill. IE Joe injects 40 units of insulin a day, there's 100 units in one ml of said insulin and each pen contains 3mls of insulin.

The science part I'm not required to know because I'm not a pharmacist. I've asked enough questions and picked up things here and there to know a little. Like why I have to ask if a woman is pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant if she's on statins for her cholesterol.

Oh and I have to fix all the mistakes pharmacists make when they try and do nightly cash handling and deposits because pharmacists are SHIT with money and business operations.

I mostly just make use of specialized software but you need a good math sense to do my specific job. But just algebra, really. If I had stopped taking math at Algebra II, wouldve been more than able to do my current job. And Id say its on the high end with math...or it was, 30-40 years ago. Back in the day, some pre cal couldve been useful too. Now I can make use of some program functions to get around most issues.

0. Sceince is the process of making an observation, forming a hypothesis, testing it, and drawing conclusions. Just because I use technology I wouldn't say I'm using science.

I work in a mill plant.

I just need to add a 9/16 and know what the size of window or door and style of the trim I'm cutting.

That's just my part of it anyway.

Other cutters can fuck up their part or our distributors can send in odd sizes and I would have to adjust to fit the stuff that I'm cutting for.

Had shit that was like a 8th off and they try to make it sound like it my fault until they measure the doors.

Idk exactly what you mean by "science" in this context

But for math and CS:

I 'need' math maybe once every few months to get through a white paper so i can build something implementing the concepts. Usually no more than some algebra, but some light calculus every now and then.

Light statistics are pretty much constant. Real simple stuff though - ntiles, std, etc, but i have found excuses to do some modeling a few times

Comp Sci stuff: im not a software dev, so none is needed. But i am almost always working on a python script to automate something analyze a larger dataset... this is usually something i do to be better at my job, but it isnt required.

Idk if thats what you were looking for

I keep meaning to get into it - so no, but probably soon

We are digging into Power BI lately, if Power Automate can help connect some of the pieces thatd be great

For my main job, just basic accounting as I manage a $600k government grant. Even then, my admin assistant does most of that work. I mostly just give approvals.

I also teach college-level statistics, which obviously uses math.
