it was particularly cool when you're 14. it had the art style. it was futuristic and gory and had big moments like certain deaths. big titted bi hooker mercenary. japanese hell. all i really remember about the sequel is that it's a prequel

There's actually a sequel to the games, Fear Effect: Sedna.

I played it briefly on Switch. The death scenes are still awesome.

It had huge attention due to it having some vague lesbian undertones. IIRC, it was actually one of the most hyped games that year solely for that reason, but not a lot of people ended up playing it.

I still own the first game.

The FMV backgrounds were a neat idea at the time. I don't recall any other games with them.

Gameplay-wise, it was frustrating at times. At least the game over scenes were good.

The best thing about the game was the atmosphere. It's one of the few games that made me feel uneasy (I was young at the time). Each act of the game got more and more crazy.
