Like in Stranger Things. The majority of characters should either have business up front; party in the back (mustache also complimentary), or a massive perm that looked like a half a can of hair spray was used.

I know it looks ridiculous, but that's what I remember most teens to 40-year-olds looked like.

I guess it depends where you were Most people have pretty standard hairstyles across time in the US since like 1940 with some basic changes over time. The fads depended on demographics.

The mullet is probably in a narrow span of time towards the end of the decade. It's not like the whole 80's was a neon era with frizzy chick hair and dude mullets. It usually takes a couple years for the trends to set in. I think what most people think of when they hear 80's probably started in ~1984. My mom had 70's hair in her early 80's high school photos, lmao.
