Most of the time they have plenty of wannabe stars in line to do shows for free simply for the experience for their resume. Outside of Broadway (which obviously they get paid), you'll also see paid actors in larger venues in metropolitan areas. Generally speaking, they'll usually pay the Stage Manager before they pay the actors, and to a lesser extent, the director. --- Congratulations!
