How about at least give the orchid sufficient sunlight so that it can florish too like the rose. Then you can honestly, and accurately assess which is better.

I'm trying to teach the very basics.
If you're running out of roses and are afraid of the roses becoming extinct, then you stop crossbreding roses with orchids and start making more roses. You don't go kill out the orchid so that the few dying roses now outnumber the orchids. There is enough sunlight for roses, orchids and their crossbreeds to thrive.
