TL;DR - The company, along with its parent company, Amazon, recently expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement, but is punishing employees for wearing masks and shirts in support of the movement.
Even when the shirts quote the company's own public statement that is broadcasted in-store.

Guess they didn't get the memo about actions speaking louder than words.

So a company have a policy against a shirt that literally say one of their statements. Can't make this up.

all of this is a crock of shit, all these companies/groups "supporting BLM" are only doing it for money. if they weren't you'd have seen it going on well before this, like say when trump was going on his rants about kneeling. but no, anything that would potentially negatively impact their bottom line is stomped down.

They should be able to wear whatever mask they want, but if they have a dress code for shirts then you need to stick to that code.

I didn't read the article but here's my 2 cents. Anything that may instigate or may deter customers/peers away, no matter the company's alliance, shouldn't be worn. I know for a fact our company head is a Trump supporter but even his dumbass knows better than to let anyone try to wear a MAGA hat or shirt here.

That's the thing, Whole Foods don't really have much of a dress code other than their hat and aprons.

What about the part where they want the praise and credit for supporting a movement they're not really supporting

Oh wow that's crazy then, you'd think the apron would cover up most of the shirt anyways. Amazon looks pretty shitty on this one.

If there's a policy, there's a policy. The only issue is if they subjectively enforce it, but otherwise this is like separation of church and state on public display or religious statues. You either allow the satanists to put up a statue of Baphomet or nobody gets a statue.

Whole Foods is a pretty woke company, still they shouldn't be pushing religious/political statements on employees.

If it's like the chain I worked at, individual store/management might have differing policies though. "Words" on teas were banned at mine and it looks like that was the excuse one of the employee was told:

In one DM that Graham received, the employee wrote that although there was a page in their employee news binder about how Whole Foods values "diversity," it was right next to a "friendly reminder" about the dress code standards, and they emphasized that there were no words allowed on their clothes that aren't "WFM [Whole Foods Market] affiliated."

But that's kinda funny cause these words/concept are on their actual site smack in your face lol

Apparently you didn't get the memo. Companies don't have to actually care, they just have to pretend to.

Funny you should bring up "subjectively", because they have always enforced the dress code "subjectively". For example, I've never heard of anyone being told to turn their shirt inside-out/change their shirt or go home for any other slogan or logo save for BLM-associated ones(gay pride-related stuff is given a pass as well and always has been). Also, for some reason, they tend to go after black women way harder for dress code violations than white women.
Basically, the dress code isn't some clear, concise, "common sense" thing, but a subjective tool to be used to target certain violations and certain individuals as management sees fit.

I went to a mall during off hours (and with many stores closed) and that worked for me.
