Fall asleep on the little shuttle Ripley escapes on. Considering how aggressive it is why doesnt it just kill Ripley? It just has a little random snooze?

According to the script, it's dying.
Earlier in the film, Ash commented on its resilience in a non-native environment. It doesn't have a native environment, which is why it takes on the traits of whatever being it bursts out of, to survive where they are.

didn't it just finish murdering that engineer and raping that other technician? it was tired and wanted a nap. either that or it knew the ship was going to explode and figured its next target new the safest place to be.
